What experience and qualifications do lawyers need in order to be on the Ontra platform?

The engagement for legal services is managed directly between each customer and their chosen lawyer and Ontra plays no role in negotiating the terms of any legal services agreement between the lawyer and their client. Likewise, Ontra plays no role in the ultimate decision of either party to accept or continue an engagement. The demands, needs, and preferences of each customer will vary, but may include a desire for experience in specific document types and/or in specific industries.
How many hours do lawyers typically commit to the platform?

Overall volume depends on the scope of your engagement with your client(s), which will vary. According to feedback from the lawyers who utilize Ontra’s services, a typical volume is approximately 15-25 hours per week. The decision to accept, continue, or expand any engagement for legal services is managed solely between each customer and network lawyer.
What type of work is typically requested by Ontra customers from lawyers who participate in the Ontra platform?

Lawyers who utilize Ontra’s Contract Automation technology product are requested by customers to review and negotiate high-volume commercial contracts, predominantly investment-related NDAs. Lawyers who utilize Ontra’s Insight technology product are typically involved in abstracting previously executed private fund documentation.
What technical requirements are needed to utilize Ontra’s technology platform?

Our platform is web-based and can be accessed from anywhere. All you need to access your Ontra work stream is a reliable internet connection and a current version of Microsoft Word. Additionally, any device you use to access our platform will need to meet our security requirements.
Am I employed by Ontra when I join the network?

No. Ontra is not a law firm, does not employ the lawyers who are included on the Ontra Platform, and does not provide legal services of any kind. All lawyers utilizing the Ontra Platform in the network practice independently and retain sole control over their attorney-client relationships and the legal services they provide directly to their client(s). Ontra handles a variety of administrative tasks for network lawyers (including invoicing and client billing and collection), but the legal work and advice is exclusively provided by you.
