Hi, I am Sarah DeCamp, a manager of product marketing at Ontra. I’m joined by Trevor Wilkins, a KYC analyst here, and today we’re gonna be walking through his day-to-day and learning a bit more about his role at Ontra. So let’s dive right in.
Trevor, what was your experience like with KYC before you joined Ontra?
Trevor Wilkins
Hi, I am Trevor Wilkins. Prior to joining Ontra, I supported the onboarding at HSBC. Supporting middle market corporate clients. From there, I supported the onboarding for capital market clients within the institutional tech space.

So now that you’re a founding member of Ontra’s KYC analyst team, what does a day in the life look like for you?
Trevor Wilkins
A typical day for me is owning requests from initiation to clearance. That looks like reviewing different fund structures, different ownership thresholds, and just making sure that the scope of the request is aligned with market standards.
From there, I’ll tailor playbooks based on clients’ preferences, clients’ needs, as well as coordinating with counsel and external stakeholders, and really just taking care of that back and forth. And that friction that comes with KYC.

So what common challenges do you find the customers you work with face before they join Ontra?

What I see all the time is how fragmented the KYC process can be, and just how onerous it is. Many different teams are scrambling trying to put together the information. And so the difference here at Ontra is how we’re just focused on KYC only.
And so where we step in is taking that off their plate and tailoring a playbook, something that they probably never got around to think about. And so being able to tailor that based on their preferences and needs allows me to drive initiation to clearance a lot faster and more efficiently.
