Oliver Howley is a Partner in Proskauer’s TMT Group and Co-Head of the firm’s Technology Strategy Committee. He is a trusted advisor to new entrants and established leaders across the AI market, and to businesses in the technology, manufacturing and financial services sectors.

Based in London, Oliver has advised AI developers and users in London, New York and San Francisco for over a decade. He was commended in the legal directories for his “niche in robotics and artificial intelligence” before ChatGPT’s mainstream launch in 2022.

Oliver’s AI practice - described by clients as “best in class” (The Lawyer) - covers the full AI lifecycle, including training data collection, model development, procurement and investment strategies, product launches, customer contracting, regulatory compliance, risk management and long-term governance.

Over the past 18 months, he has structured and negotiated AI licensing deals worth up to $200 million, conducted diligence on billion-dollar frontier model developers, drafted dozens of AI policies, launched eight AI products globally, and helped clients review and onboard more than 130 AI tools.

Robert Mahari is the Associate Director of CodeX—the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics—where he focuses on leading practice-oriented, interdisciplinary research at the intersection of AI and law. He holds a JD-PhD in Legal Artificial Intelligence from MIT and Harvard Law School, training that anchors his dual fluency in computer science and legal doctrine.

Robert’s research leverages computation to surface new jurisprudential insights, build tools to improve legal practice, and identify new approaches to regulating emerging technologies. His work is published in venues that span disciplines—from Science and Nature Machine Intelligence to computer-science conferences including NeurIPS, ACL, and ICML. His research is regularly covered by media outlets including The New York Times and The Washington Post.

To translate his research into practice, Robert collaborates with public and private entities to prototype and deploy novel legal technologies. He is a frequent speaker on these topics for academic, industry, and government audiences worldwide. Robert also co-chairs the New York City Bar Association’s Subcommittee on Generative AI and the Law. As co-founder of Leading Beyond Boundaries, he convenes practice-oriented academic workshops during the World Economic Forum.

Gui leads the Legal Intelligence function at Ontra, overseeing a team of highly skilled legal experts who partner closely with Machine Learning Engineers, Software Engineers, UX/UI Designers, and Product Managers to build cutting-edge, AI-powered legal technology. His team plays a central role in shaping Ontra’s product innovation by ensuring that domain expertise and user’s expectations are top of mind throughout Ontra’s product development cycle.

Gui first joined Ontra in 2021 as a Sales Director based in London, where he focused on serving large alternative investment managers and pension funds in the UK and France. He went on to establish the Legal Intelligence function in 2023, to support Ontra’s expansion of capabilities at the intersection of law and artificial intelligence.

Prior to Ontra, Gui spent more than a decade practicing corporate law. He spent four years at Dechert LLP in New York and London, advising global private equity sponsors, asset managers, and multinational corporations on complex cross-border and domestic transactions. Before joining Dechert, Gui practiced at Vinci Partners (now Vinci Compass), one of Latin America’s largest alternative investment managers, supporting transactional, regulatory, and fund-related matters across the firm’s investment strategies.

Gui holds an LL.M. from Columbia University and an LL.B. from FGV Direito Rio. He is qualified to practice law in New York and Brazil and is fluent in Portuguese, French, and Spanish.
